The Gippsland Regional Waste Management Group was formed in October 1997 to coordinate and implement regional waste reduction and resource recovery initiatives in the Gippsland Region.
The area serviced by the group extends from Phillip Island to Mallacoota, some 40,000 sq km with an estimated population of 220,000 people.
The GRWMG Board
The Board ensure all aspects in relation to activities, membership and organisations are clear. The Board, which governs the affairs of the Group, involve the Executive and Education Committees. Directors are appointed from each Member Council, to represent their Municipality. Each Municipalty appoints a Councilor as a GRWMG Board Director. Representatives from the Environmental Protection Authority, Sustainability Victoria and Gipsland Water are also present.

Aim of the Board
The Board discuss waste management projects and plans for Gippsland. The Group spend time sharing waste management technologies, practices and knowledge and are currently developing the Regional Waste Management Plan.
